Feel Better About Yourself

How to Feel Better About Yourself: 4 Tips for Mamas

Being a mama of young ones is amazing, but you’re constantly on the go.

It can be easy to forget to take care of yourself, and you might start feeling a bit down about how you look or how you’re managing.

But don’t worry, here are some simple things you can do to feel better about yourself.

1.  Focus on Your Health

It’s easy to get caught up in numbers when it comes to losing the baby weight. But instead of focusing on a number on the scale, try to focus on feeling healthy and strong.

Think about how great it feels to go for a walk in the park with your kids, or how fun it is to swim with them.  Then do it!  Moving your body is great for improving your mood.

Your body is amazing for all the things it can do (it grew a baby!), not just for how it looks.

2.  Be Kind to Yourself and Others

Sometimes, when we’re feeling down about ourselves, we may start to be a little harder on both ourselves and others.

Instead of being critical, try to give compliments to people.

Be kind to people, especially yourself.

Finding something nice to say about someone else, makes you feel better too!

3.  Prioritize Self Care

Some days it feels like we’re surrounded by negative messages, especially online.  And this can lead to negative thinking.

Try to limit your time on social media and focus on spending time with people who make you feel good.

Prioritise self care by making sure you eat healthily and get enough rest.  Try treating yourself to something nice today, like a relaxing bath. And planning to do something for yourself in the future, like a trip to the hairdressers.

Doing things that make you happy can help you feel more positive about yourself.

4.  Celebrate Your Strengths

On those days you feel overwhelmed, make a list of all the things you love about yourself.

Maybe you’re a great cook, a wonderful friend, or a super mama.

Whenever you feel a negative thought creep in, counter it with a positive one from your list.

It takes practice, but focusing on the good stuff can really help to shift your mindset and help you to feel better about yourself.

Being a mama can be tough, but you deserve to feel good about yourself!

To counter those tough days, take care of your health, be kind to yourself and others, prioritize yourself and surrounding yourself with positivity.

You will start feeling better about yourself and all the amazing things you do.
